Different brushstrokes for different folks

Overview

The National Trust of Guernsey Art at The Park Gallery, Saumarez Park is delighted to present “Different Brushstrokes for Different Folks”, a joyful and diverse group exhibition by three members of the same creative family – Linda C Falla, Sharon Ann De La Mare, and Louis De La Mare.

Though united by family ties and a passion for making art, each artist brings a distinct style, story, and medium to this vibrant collective display.

Linda C Falla showcases a vivid collection of mixed media works, bursting with colour, light, and a sense of playful experimentation. Her abstracts and watercolours are the result of an enthusiastic dive into post-retirement creativity, nurtured through the Sarnia Arts & Crafts Club and driven by a love for artistic exploration.

Sharon Ann De La Mare, also embracing her own creative renaissance, presents complex, nature-inspired designs filled with intricate patterns and metallic hues. With a background in graphic design and ceramics, her semi-abstract pieces reflect a keen eye for detail, design, and texture.

Louis De La Mare brings a contemporary edge to the exhibition with finely detailed oil paintings and digital illustrations that celebrate the beauty of nature—particularly the textures of fur and feathers. A Kingston School of Art graduate in Illustration and Animation, Louis now focuses on traditional oil painting to explore the animal world with precision and care.

Together, this talented trio offers a delightful mix of perspectives and approaches—proving that different brushstrokes truly do speak to different folks.
