Overview
We are keen to hear from anyone who has artefacts pertaining to Guernsey's granite industry between the mid 1800s and about 1950. Suitable items would either be borrowed, donated to the Trust or accepted on 'permanent loan' and may be displayed in a permanent exhibition at Mowlem's Yard, Church House, St. Sampson's.
Do you have ... photographs of St. Sampson's Harbour and quarry-working photographs, quarry workers' diaries, work logs, granite working tools (hammers, chisels etc) and specialist pieces of granite work?
We will hold an open morning at Mowlem's Yard, Church House, South Side, St. Sampson's on Saturday 26 February from 10am - 12pm. Please bring along your artefacts – we look forward to seeing you and hearing your granite industry stories.
