2016 Costume Exhibitions packed with memories
There's a lot to see at National Trust of Guernsey's Folk and Costume Museum 2016 season. In addition to the outstanding exhibitions of Guernsey heritage, we are pleased to introduce two new costume displays. The Costume Museum's upper floor showcases 'Uniforms', celebrating a wide range of Island institutions from militia, emergency services, local schools, Brownies and many other familiar uniforms that will be remembered with fondness and pride. Last year's popular and much talked about 'Unmentionables' exhibition has been refreshed and added to with Unmentionables II. Historic foundation garments are displayed, including finely boned corsets and slips but there's a guaranteed smile for those who remember the late sixties and early seventies 'Cross your Heart' Playtex brassiere and other familiar items which were considered quite saucy television advertising at the time. There are sure to be some winks and nods as visitors enjoy this display. Both exhibitions are highly interesting and are guaranteed to make visitors smile. They make great viewing across the generations so come along with a wide ranging age group of friends and family. The museum at Saumarez Park, is open seven days a week from 10am with last entries at 4.15pm. Entrance is free to National Trust of Guernsey members, visitors from National Trust UK and other worldwide trusts with whom we have reciprocal arrangements.
