Frances Lemmon Exhibition

Art at The Park

A vibrant tribute to feminine strength and creative spirit, Frances Lemmon’s George Sands Feminist Troubadour sings with poetic grace and visual power. This is more than an homage; it’s a manifesto in paint.

With this exhibition, Frances Lemmon has created a space for reflection, admiration, and empowerment. It’s a triumph of artistic empathy and historical imagination. The paintings pulse with quiet defiance, emotional clarity and graceful power.

Lemmon’s figures are stylized yet expressive, their bodies and faces simplified to essential forms, yet imbued with soulful gravitas. In one painting, a pair of dancers, entwined mid-motion, communicate harmony and mutual support; in another, a solitary woman bathes in the golden defiance of a seaside sun, her body unapologetically grounded and expansive.

Of particular note are the richly detailed floral works, where Lemmon’s technical fluency deepens into lush surrealism. A personal favourite and regrettably not for sale — the unforgettable exhibition portrait of the eponymous Sands — emerges from a garden of vibrant blossoms, overlaid with birds in flight. It’s a vision of womanhood as wild, wise, and rooted in beauty.

The duality of softness and strength is a recurring theme. With bold yet harmonious color palettes, Lemmon elevates the everyday. There is myth in the mundane, and it’s that alchemy that drives the exhibition’s power. This captivating exhibition offers a generous measure of Lemmon’s unmistakable style and magnetic talent — bold, lyrical, and utterly enchanting.
