A generous bequest of land at La Corbiere
In a time when the media is full of bad and depressing news, the war in Iran, the cost of living crisis and on a local level, the increasing urbanisation of our landscape, it is easy to forget that there is still good news out there.
We are delighted to announce that a very generous Islander has gifted us a substantial tract of land at La Corbiere as a permanent memorial to her partner who died recently. This land is contiguous with our existing land holdings in the area and we intend to open the site, which is currently inaccessible, for the benefit of Islanders and visitors alike who enjoy the beauty of our South Coast cliffs.
The Trust will continue to manage the land over the coming years to maximise its benefit to biodiversity and, although this will take several years, Islanders will be able to enjoy the site during its restoration.
Although we wish the circumstances that prompted this gift were different, we are of course extremely grateful, and as we have said on previous occasions, the generosity of the people of Guernsey never ceases to amaze us.
