Have your say – Guernsey Marine Spatial Plan

Environment

The States of Guernsey are currently preparing a Marine Spatial Plan, a long-term policy that will help shape how our coastal waters are managed for decades to come.

The plan will consider a wide range of interests, including fishing, renewable energy projects, recreation, tourism, wildlife conservation and the wider marine environment. With many competing demands on our coastline and coastal waters, this is an important opportunity for islanders to help influence future decision-making. Of particular concern is the continued decline of Guernsey’s wading bird populations. Over the past 50 years, many species have experienced significant reductions, due in part to increasing human activity and disturbance in key coastal habitats.

The consultation process is now open, and the Policy & Resources Committee is inviting members of the public to share their views through a short online survey. The results will help inform future policies, including the potential protection of important coastal habitats and wildlife areas.

Every response matters. By taking part, you can help ensure that the needs of nature are properly considered alongside economic and recreational interests.

The survey can be completed online at: gov.gg/mspsurvey Please submit your response before the consultation closes on 12 June.

Our marine environment is one of Guernsey’s greatest natural assets. This is your opportunity to help shape its future.
