It has been a couple of months since we launched our Land Acquisition Fund and we are delighted with the result. Donations from Members and individuals have raised £11,500 which, together with the generous donation from the Swallow 2018 Charitable Trust of £30,000, brought the total raised to £41,500.
Currently we have spent £29,843 on the acquisition of the site in the Talbot Valley. Additionally we have committed £7,500 to legal fees in relation to the acquisition of three additional sites which are in the process of being donated to the Trust.
This leaves a current balance available of £4,157 to which the Trust is adding £14,350 which was gifted to the Trust by HSBC to be spent on “green” projects, bringing the total available to £18,507.
We have held a preliminary meeting concerning another site which may become available in the north of the island, so we would urge members to continue to support this initiative to enable more sites to be acquired.
Heartfelt thanks to those who have donated and supported the Trust’s aim to safeguard land for future generations.
Land often comes up for sale with little or no warning. We need to be able to act fast.
