We have lift off! The Fermain Tower Appeal, 'A Tower for All', was today launched by the Trust's Patron, His Excellency, the Lieutenant-Governor Vice Admiral Sir Ian Corder KBE, CB and Trust President, Tony Spruce.
Despite a stiff onshore breeze, our gathering at Fermain Tower was warm and convivial. Numerous media groups covered news of the launch and our thanks go to Tyler Allen BBC Radio Guernsey, Helen Devonshire and Adrian Miller Guernsey Press, Jonny Freeman Island FM, Fran Le Noury ITV Channel TV and finally, Chloe Chescoe Orchard PR for pulling this all together. Thanks also to Oliver Westgarth CCD Architects for helping our visitors explore the inside of the tower and also sharing project plans.
His Excellency was pleased to see the tower at this initial stage and said that he'd be delighted to see it when finished. Having just explored the raw bones of the inside of the Fermain Tower, he appreciated that there's 'a little way to go'. Sir Ian felt it would be a fascinating place to stay, once completed and wished the Trust all the best for a successful fundraising project. We are grateful to His Excellency for his time and interest in the Trust's unprecedented heritage renovation.
