New Year’s Honours congratulations to Raymond Evison CBE, VMH, FLS, FCI Hort., Vice President of the Royal Horticultural Society, breeder, nurseryman, winner of 33 gold medals at Chelsea Flower Show and our close neighbour at Saumarez Park.
The Guernsey Botanical Trust was set up in 2006 by Raymond " to conserve, display, promote, preserve and develop botany and the botanical heritage of the Bailiwick of Guernsey". GBT’s Victorian Walled Kitchen Garden is just a hop, skip and a jump away from National Trust of Guernsey’s Folk and Costume Museum. Visitors to both places undoubtedly enjoy many of the same heritage passions.
Accurately described as a focused restoration and conservation project, run by volunteers, aimed at upholding and preserving the history and heritage of Guernsey’s horticultural, we feel extremely lucky to have The Victorian Walled Kitchen Garden so close by and very much look forward to the opening of their Gatehouse in 2024. This is an immense project that will benefit future generations of Islanders and visitors.
