opened National Trust of Guernsey’s 2018 Summer Courtyard Concerts with an enthralling repertoire, covering familiar, unusual and always rousing, music. Musical Director, Fiona Le Tissier introduced the programme with thanks to National Trust of Guernsey for hosting the concert and acknowledging the superb acoustic and heritage environment of The Museum Courtyard and National Trust of Guernsey responded with heartfelt thanks and delight that the Guernsey Welsh Male Voice Choir were launching the Summer Concerts for 2018. Stallholders at the Museum Courtyard were busy and NTG is pleased to welcome three permanent stallholders for the extent of the two week Summer Concert Series: Sarnia Arts and Crafts Club, Anja Rozema’s Aloe4Ever health product stall and, for exotic refreshments Audrey Castanha’s ‘Amchi Bus’ serving a wide variety of Goan and traditional fare. A mouth-watering Afternoon Tiffin Box has been created especially for mid-afternoon snacking. To the delight of haberdashery fans, ‘Buttons and Bits’ a new National Trust of Guernsey stall for 2018, launched at this first concert. Curated by Caro Drake, volunteer Costume Curator for National Trust of Guernsey, ‘Buttons and Bits’ comprises beautifully packaged collections of braids, edging materials, buttons and feathered items, all drawn from the Trust’s collection of over 8,000 vintage items – the likes of which have not been seen before. Collectors of unusual small things and haberdashery enthusiasts alike, will appreciate the sentiment ‘Buy now, or never’. The stall will continue to run from The Museum Shop, once the Courtyard Concerts have ended. National Trust of Guernsey’s sell-out stand of traditional bakes and teas, including home-made Island delicacy Gâche Mêläie, promises the same again plus traditional Irish favourites for the next Summer Courtyard Concert, with The Button Pushers, on Wednesday 18 July at 6pm. The Trust extends deep thanks to Fiona Le Tissier and Guernsey Welsh Male Voice Choir for a most uplifting start to 2018 Summer Courtyard Concerts and helping us in our aim to share ‘honest music in a heritage setting’.
