One of the privileges of being part of the public relations team is getting an early look at new exhibitions before they open for the Member and Invitees Preview, and then to the public.
Although every exhibition is a testament to artistry, the current showcase of Betty Watson’s Japanese Silk Embroidery has left me utterly captivated, indeed, words fail to convey the sheer beauty and craftsmanship on display.
Each piece invites close examination, revealing a tapestry of intricate stitches expertly intertwined. The texture, delicate colour gradients, and flowing movement in every work combine to form silk masterpieces of unmatched detail. The precision involved is breathtaking and invites curiosity about the methods behind such perfection.
It’s easy to imagine the need for exceptional lighting, magnification, and a steady, skillful hand.
Betty Watson’s artistry is nothing short of extraordinary. Each piece is a one-of-a-kind treasure, making them highly sought after and truly collectible.
Congratulations and thanks to Betty Watson for this superb exhibition.
